The Ipaky Silicon back cover for the Huawei Mate 9

Few Clouds, 26°C

DBP Avenue

The Ipaky phone case for my Huawei Mate 9 that I ordered from Lazada arrived yesterday at the office.

I’ve been in the market for a better case for my Mate 9 and the Ipaky case did not disappoint. Fits like a T, Fingerprint resistant, looks cool on a Gold M9, all ports accounted for, etc. It also arrived way before the scheduled date so it’s a win for me. The price, at the time of this writing, is kinda on the steep side for this kind of case (TPU and silicon) but that’s the price we pay for something not readily available in shops right now.

Problem sending texts to Globe from Smart

Broken Clouds, 27°C

DBP Avenue

I’m still having difficulties sending SMS to my friends who are Globe users. Only them. My other contacts (Smart) can receive my text messages and I can receive theirs. SMART replied to my email yesterday advising me to restart my phone. That’s customer service for you! What a load of crock. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again- if I had a better Globe network signal at my home in Andagao, I’d switch to them in a heartbeat. I’ve so had it up to here with SMART and their crappy customer service.

Checking out the Textra Messaging app for Android

Clear Sky, 28°C

I’m trying Textra Messaging App now. It allows one to customize almost everything on the app from colors to notifications to text sizes. I’ve tried sending an MMS too and it worked just fine. I think I’ll try it for a while and see how it goes. If I like it, I may just have found a replacement for Evolvesms.

No need to root my Huawei Mate 9 at this time

Scattered Clouds, 27°C

Yesterday, I installed the AdClear app that I discovered online and to my surprise it works wonderfully without root! Rooting therefore, is not so much a priority now. It’s great to stay on stock with everything working rather than go ahead and root and risk some apps (especially the Camera)  Breaking as others have experienced. Time will tell if I’ll still root my Mate 9 but right now I’m staying put.

Doing the Laundry and Mai-Mai

Clear Sky, 26°C

Just got done helping Joy with the laundry. For a few minutes, I took photos of Mai-Mai, our mini-pinscher in between hanging clothes to dry. Joy will be leaving the house in a little bit to play mahjong with her friends and I’ll be stuck home alone. Yey!

My new Huawei Mate 9

I got my new phone, the awesome Huawei Mate 9, from Play Telecom Gaisano courtesy of bro. Jerome and sis. Yeye Quimpo yesterday. I’ve been fiddling with it almost non-stop and I’m thoroughly enjoying every minute of it! All the phone needs now is that it gets rooted and, of course, a new case or cases that’ll show off the phone and not completely cover it.

I’ll have to cough up P3k for it every month for 12 months though but that is what I have to do to get a phone like this. I hope I don’t let the Quimpos down.

Car troubles

Overcast Clouds, 26°C

Dancorr Car Care Center, Western Nautical Highway, Numancia, Philippines

The car’s air conditioner belt was ripped to shreds so we went to Dancorr to have it fixed. There I discovered to my horror that the rear right tire also was shredded beyond repair and posed a major safety hazard. Its a good thing Joy had some money on her and we decided to buy two new front tires and moved the old (but still good) ones to the back. Also, Vaughn came through with his promise to buy me a new car battery; a Motolite worth P3,700. We thank the Good Lord for the blessings we received today despite the fact that we still have to spend for repairs and for the new tires. Its a miracle the old tire lasted that long without blowing up. God is Good all the time!

The replacement of the belt was not without a hitch however. The mechanic said there may also be a problem with the bearing as the belt still squealed when we started it. We had no other choice but to leave it there for the night (as it was already past closing time) so they can fix it first thing tomorrow.

Quick vacay at Boracay

Few Clouds, 26°C

Rustico Quimpo

We rode a van to Caticlan and a ferry to Boracay this afternoon. I wasn’t already feeling to well as I was coughing and sneezing all the way to the #WorldsFinestBeach. We had a pleasant surprise when we found out that we were the only people renting the rooms upstairs since that would afford us a little bit of privacy. Later that afternoon, we hiked it along the beach from station 1 to station 2 and stayed at one spot where they had beanbags lined up right on the beachfront. Turned out it was a stupid idea cuz that’s when I got the colds from the unusually cool and damp wind and sporadic showers. In a couple of hours, I developed a full-blown fever. Before heading home, we bought food from Mini-Stop at the back of station 2. We arrived at our rented room at around 10pm that night and I was already getting the chills.

Thank God Joy was there to look after me. I love her for that and more.
